Sicaya offers several Internet Cafes, shops and restaurants. The medical centre there offers its services.
Getting there from Lima: Huancayo lies directly inland from Lima. The road is paved and in good condition. The bus company Cruz del Sur (Jr Quilca 531, Lima;
Tel: 01424 1005) run severaly times daily and is quite comfortable. Cheaper are numerous other companys as Mariscal Caceres (Avenida 28 de Julio 2195, Lima; Tel: 01427 2844),
ETUCSA (Paseo de la Republica 646 oder 699, Lima; Tel: 01426 0561),
Ormeno (Carlos Zavala 177, Lima; Tel: 01 427 1710).
The beautiful drive takes around 7h and leads you over a mountain pass of over 4800m (Take precautions of the altitude sickness if you are not acclimatised)
The famous and popular train from Lima to Huancayo (and return) only runs sometimes.Those who are interested will have to find out in Huancayo or Lima.
After you have arrived in Huancayo it's the best to take a cab to Sicaya. The family is also more than willing to pick you up.
To/From Cusco: This exceptional road filled with diversity leads you via Ayacucho and Andahuaylas. A lot of companies offer their services.
Also highly recommended is the trainride to Huancavelica. Departure daily at 6.30am and 1.30 pm. Each way takes about 5h. From here you can also go with Colectivos to Ayacucho (plan in some time).

Sicaya The picturesque little town lies a bit apart from the popular tourist areas (15min to Central Huancayo) around 3400m above sea level. For those who like to get a better
insight in the country and its people this place is perfect. The warmth of the family and the whole community will be kept in mind and make this time there to a very special one.

Excursions Those who - despite the calm environment - still like to wander off and do things, there are quite a few options:
A daytrip to the neighbour town Jauja with its picturesque lagoon including a boat ride if desired.
Wandering through one of the most famous markets of Peru in Huancayo. Here you can buy everything you can think of, plus a lot more that you hadn't thought of. Especially on sundays is market day where lots of farmers of the surrounding villages come to sell their belongings.
Visiting or helping out on the fields in the fertile MantaroValley

Taking part in spanish courses, e.g. at
Inkas del Peru (www.incasdelperu.org). Also weaving, natural dyes and peruvian cooking and traditional musical instruments (panpipes, flute, charango) is possible to learn there.
